We were sooo lucky and thank ful to Donors Choose project that was funded by several donors. Their donations made it possible for every child in our school to do a piece of pottery. WOW! What a blessing and sooo much fun! Most students were so excited they had never used clay. So thankful for: Google.org, Gymboree, Bernadette Kelly, The Harris Family, Jennifer, Joanne and TJ Minasi. Their donations supplied us with paints, clay tools, clay and supplies for 650 students to do a small clay item. What an amazing experience. The students learned about clay, and the firing process. We were very blessed to have Roger Casillas who fired all of our clay for the upper grades. WOW!!!! That is a ton of work, and we are so thankful!
Color mixing using tints and shades. Loved how our recycled "clock" boxes worked as a perfect canvas. Thanks to other teacher who are always saving items for me. The younger grades got new clocks to work on time and these little boxes got new life as amazing little canvases. The students loved painting on them and I loved how they did mixing their tints and shades into a simple landscape. Plus it only took us one 45 minute class period.
